It speaks to the tired, the ones who have run out, and it puts the renewing of strength in God's hands rather than yours. Read it slowly. Then sit with Psalm 46:1 and let it tell you where help actually comes from. You do not need to feel brave to begin. You only need to be honest about where you are.
We want to be careful with a verse like Philippians 4:13, because it is often pressed into service as a slogan about willpower or winning. Paul wrote it from prison, having learned to be content whether he had plenty or had nothing. The strength he describes is the strength to endure, to stay faithful, and to keep loving when everything in you wants to stop. So if today your courage looks like getting out of bed, or telling the truth when a lie would be easier, that counts. Keeping faith with someone you could have given up on counts too. That is the kind of strength Scripture keeps praising.
It helps to see how the whole of the Bible speaks to this. Again and again God says to frightened people, do not be afraid, and the reason He gives is almost never that the danger has gone. It is that He is with them. Joshua is told to be strong and courageous, and in the same breath he is promised God's presence. The strength is real, but it is borrowed. It rests on the One who stays when others leave and who does not get tired when we do.
So be gentle with yourself as you read. Courage often grows quietly, in small acts of trust repeated over a long time, and it is perfectly normal for fear and faith to sit side by side in the same heart. If you are afraid today, you are in good company with most of the people in Scripture, and you are not loved any less for it. Take one verse, pray it back to God in your own words, and let Him carry what you cannot.
