Mothering Sunday
Mothering Sunday began as a day to return to your mother church, and grew into a day to give thanks for mothers and for the care that shapes us. It is a warm Sunday for many and a tender one for others. These verses hold both: the patient love we are called to, God’s blessing spoken over a family, and his nearness to the brokenhearted.
Mothering Sunday is 15 March 2026, the fourth Sunday of Lent.
A note for planning
Handle the day gently. For every person thankful for their mother, someone in the room has lost one, longs to be one, or found home a hard place. Name that kindly from the front, and let the verse on the brokenhearted do its quiet work for those who need it.
