Funerals and Thanksgiving Services
A funeral asks Scripture to do two things at once: to be honest about loss, and to hold out hope. These verses do both. The shepherd who walks with us through the darkest valley, the promise that God will wipe away every tear, the refuge we run to when the ground gives way. They are chosen to comfort the grieving without rushing them, and to point gently beyond the grave.
Funerals and services of thanksgiving happen all year.
A note for planning
Read slowly and leave space. A single verse on the order of service, or held on screen, can carry more than a long passage. Psalm 23 is loved for good reason; pairing it with the promise of Revelation 21 holds grief and hope together in the same breath.
